Assessment Pattern
Coursework - 100%
• Attendance at timetabled sessions: each session carries an equal proportion of the total attendance mark (70%)
• Coursework: a curriculum vitae (20%)
• Timely and accurate completion of appropriate electronic / paperwork: each item carries an equal proportion of the total electronic/paperwork mark; the mark for each item will be 100% if accurate and submitted on time, 50% if late or inaccurate, 0% if late and inaccurate (10%)

A mark of at least 40% in each Unit of Assessment is required to pass the module.
Module Overview
This module aims to enable you to prepare appropriately for placement-year employment, and introduces relevant skills to help you find employment after graduation.

Module Aims
• To enable you to prepare appropriately for placement-year employment.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module you should be able to:
• Write a professional CV.
• Make informed choices about future employment.
• Conduct yourself appropriately during a job interview.
• Make a good initial impression when starting work.
• Write employment-related risk assessments.

Transferable Skills in addition to those above:
• General writing and communication.
• Writing risk assessments.

• Placement scheme overview.
• Writing a CV.
• Interview techniques.
• Experiences of employees and placement students.
• Starting employment.
• Health & Safety at Work and risk assessments.
Methods of Teaching/Learning
• Lectures
• Seminars with returning placement students
• Industry seminars given by visiting speakers
• Guided reading
• CV coursework assignment and feedback

Reassessment:
• As this module includes marks for Attendance, it is not feasible to run an identical resit of this aspect during the Summer vacation. In view of this, if you fail this module no resit will be available and you will be expected to transfer to the version of the programme without a placement year.
