Module Overview |
This module introduces students to techniques of effective and professional working in the arts and education. It concentrates on their own professional profile, applying for funding, organising educational workshops and producing arts marketing. |

Module Aims |
- To introduce students to principles, skills and techniques relevant to creating CVs, workshop plans, funding bids, marketing plans (b,c,d).
- To enable students to understand their individual experience of academic study and life-wide learning in relation to opportunities for employment and engagement in cultural experience and social and professional exchange (b,e)
- To prepare students with the cognitive and social skills to support their vocational and personal development; and to provide strategies for professional conduct in new contexts, whether local, national or international (e,f).

Learning Outcomes |
On completion of this module students should be able to
- Identify and apply principles, skills and techniques of planning and facilitating workshops and marketing (A1, C2, D2, D3)
- Articulate the relevance of their developing academic study and life-wide learning to potential employment contexts (A3, B1, D1)
- Identify specific cognitive and social skills, apply these to new contexts and develop flexible responses to professional practices (D1, D2, D4).

Module Content |
The module will introduce specific areas of self, arts and project management, which may include CV preparation, marketing strategies, funding applications, budgeting, time management and writing project proposals. It will also introduce models of structuring workshops apply theatre to cultural and social contexts. The module will be supported by content from fields such as organisation and self-management, arts policy and management, education.
