Module Overview
This module will discuss core concepts of professionalism and direct as well as indirect career paths within Psychology and other related professional fields.
Prerequisites/Co-requisites
All Level 1 modules
Module Aims
 
  • To acquire, develop and apply new skills appropriate to the professional settings and degree in Psychology
  • To apply knowledge and skills acquired in the academic setting to the practical demands of the employing organisation.
  • To understand appropriate interpersonal skills in the organisational setting.
  • To develop and refine the communication skills required of a person working in a professional capacity.
 
 
 
Learning Outcomes
 
·         On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated and acquired a detailed, thorough and critical understanding of career development in psychology.
  • Students will be expected to have more informed career plans that guide their choice of placement or employment and help provide more focus for the final year of their degree.
·         The focus on group work and discussion will enable students to develop and enhance key transferable skills such as communication, team work and problem-solving.
·         Students will be expected to have an understanding of what makes a good candidate and be able to demonstrate this in a variety of formats such as a CV, job application and interview.
·        Additionally, it is intended that students will have enhanced employment prospects following the development of relevant personal and professional skills.
