Prerequisites/Co-requisites |
Successful completion of all Level 1 core Psychology modules. All core level 2 Psychology modules are co-requisites.

Module Aims |
The aim of this module is complementary to that of module PS2011. This module aims to enable students to attain proficiency in the design of research projects, and in interpreting and evaluating psychological research. The course builds on the skills developed during the first year course so that at the end of year 2, the student should be familiar with a range of research designs, which they can apply in their final year projects and beyond. |

Learning Outcomes |

Module Content |
Structured laboratory exercises reflecting issues in research formulation, design and evaluation in the areas of Biological, Cognitive, Developmental and Social Psychology. The exercises will give experience in the design of experimental studies, qualitative and categorical approaches, and content analysis, and will use a variety of different data sources.
Individual sessions will be taken by different lecturers from differing psychological backgrounds. Again tutors will support the lecturers during the sessions. Unlike year 1, students will be expected to take a more purposeful role in designing, and performing studies; this may be individually, or within small groups. Students will also be expected to show increasing independence in analysing and reporting these studies.
