By the end of the module, the student should have an understanding of different perspectives on the study of individual differences and be able to draw upon evidence which assesses these views.

- Classical psychoanalytic theory and developments
- Evaluation of psychoanalytic psychology
- The dispositional perspective - the concept of traits and the factor analytic approach
- Critique of the dispositional perspective
- The social learning theory approach and contemporary cognitive perspectives
- The concept of intelligence and models of intelligence
- Evaluation of genetic and biological influences on personality and intelligence
