Module Aims |
The module aims to introduce social psychology to first year psychology and applied psychology and sociology students. In particular, it will provide students with an understanding of social psychology as an evidence-based discipline through the presentation of empirical studies and theoretical models. Students will be shown how theoretical developments and research questions evolve in social psychology through the presentation of classic and contemporary research. |

Learning Outcomes |
At the end of the module students should be aware of the fundamental theories and concepts in social psychology and be able to understand links between different theoretical social psychological issues and everyday social situations.

Module Content |
The module will comprise five areas:
A. Basic interpersonal processes: Cooperation and communication. B. Social perception: Attribution, inference, self presentation and impression management C. Social influence processes: Informal bases of influence; leadership, authority and obedience D. Group processes: Decision making in groups; group performance and productivity E. Interpersonal relations: Forming and maintaining social connections |
