Module Aims
To further your development as a solo performer, and to present a short public recital at a standard that demonstrates a thorough understanding of, and application of professional qualities.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module you should be able to:
  1. demonstrate enhanced instrumental/vocal ability in a short recital
  2. demonstrate a level of musicianship and stamina to suggest that you might be able to take MMus Recital
  3. perform in public, with authority and communication, and at an appropriate level
  4. demonstrate technical, musical, presentational skills and stylistic awareness
  5. demonstrate an awareness of some of the background issues relevant to performance
Module Content
Individual tuition, and experience in performance as soloist (and/or accompanist, as appropriate) and ensemble musician.
Methods of Teaching/Learning
200 hours of private practice and study (300 hours in total for the module). 20 hours of individual tuition from your first study instrumental/vocal teacher. Attendance at performance seminars, rehearsals and concerts (80 hours).

Your individual tuition will be directed by your performance teacher. Your practical participation is monitored by the Module Convenor.

Feedback is given to students in the following ways:
  • tutorials with the Module Convenor, following any performance
  • tutorials to discuss repertoire planning
  • at the end of the module (May) a tutorial is available to review the final assessment
