To allow in-depth scholarly treatment of an advanced research topic which would not otherwise be covered, at this level, in the course curriculum. |

Learning Outcomes |
An awareness of sophisticated research methodologies, with close contact with bibliographic resources and professional musicological literature; an understanding of a wide range of issues related to the particular topic, and the ability to identify the most important relevant issues for yourself; the ability to deal with complex ideas of various natures and to communicate them clearly and effectively in writing; the ability to organise and structure a large-scale written work; your technique of presenting written work; the necessary training and experience to those of you who are considering further postgraduate study. |
