| Module Aims |
- To apply and develop skills learnt in Analysis, Aesthetics, Popular Musicology and/or Critical Musicology in a single focussed study in eighteenth, nineteenth or twentieth-century music.
- To develop greater independence of thought and working practice in preparation for researching and writing a dissertation.

| Learning Outcomes |
- Apply relevant analytical and/or critical skills to a selected case study.
- Research and write up, with some degree of independence, a musicological project.

| Module Content |
Students select a 18th, 19th or 20th Century case study in consultation with the Module Convenor and other tutors as appropriate. The study may focus on a single work or a small repertoire of works. |

| Methods of Teaching/Learning |
Tutorials up to 20 hours
280 hours of private study (300 hours in total for the module)
You will be given a supervisor for your project. You and your supervisor will work together during the preparation of your case study. During your tutorials you will receive advice on developing your self-directed learning and research skills, as well as assistance with your queries resulting from your reading. You can expect feedback on the initial drafts of your submission.
