Module Overview
The purpose of this module is to provide you with the opportunity to develop further the skills and experience you acquired in HE2 Musicology B.
Prerequisites/Co-requisites
Permission of module convenor.
Module Aims
• To enable you to engage with a topic of your own choosing at a level of detail not otherwise offered on the programme.
• To foster an ability to structure an extended piece of writing.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module you should be able to:

• Write an abstract.
• Research and write a detailed and precise bibliography.
• Organize and structure a large-scale piece of written work employing the appropriate research methodology.
• Explain and analyse in detail aspects of a topic chosen in consultation with the module co-ordinator.

Transferable skills:

• The ability to work independently.
• Cogent written argumentation.
• Deconstruction of problems.
Module Content
• An initial plenary session in which the purpose of the module will be outlined and advice given on planning and suitable topics.
• An initial tutorial with the module co-ordinator to determine your topic and supervisor.
• Tutorials with your supervisor.
