To explore a range of repertory from the 19th century and to address relevant historical, critical and stylistic issues. |

- describe stylistic and structural features of a range of music from the 19th century
- explain the relationship of a selection of works to broader cultural contexts

Lectures will introduce historical and cultural topics in the 19th century as a context for the close scrutiny of a representative range of musical works from the period. |
