Module Overview |
This module gives an introduction to the business of music, the careers available, the industry bodies and regulatory authorities who manage it and an overview of contractual and payment issues. |

Module Aims |
• To create awareness of the diversity of the roles and work available in the music industries. • To develop an understanding of the relationship between the many bodies who influence and manage the music business. • To explore contractual issues and aspects of intellectual property for recorded and live music. • To explore contractual issues and aspects of intellectual property for composition. • To prepare you for a career as a musician or as one who works with musicians.

Learning Outcomes |
By the end of this module, you should be able to: • Describe how the music industry works, including roles and responsibilities. • Give an outline of careers not directly involved in performance and composition. • Give an overview of contract law and intellectual property for compositions. • Explain the nature of contracts for performing, management and recording. • Write an effective CV, biography and press release.
