Module Overview
This module develops students’ individual and group skills in creating film narratives, focussing on the development of fictional scenes using actors and locations. 

 

Prerequisites/Co-requisites
Successful completion of MFC1009 Introduction to Audio Visual Media.
Module Aims

• To provide a framework for developing an idea into a short film production

 

• To study the issues that arise out of the creation of fictional scenarios

 

• To gain a critical awareness of students’ own strengths and limitations  

 

• To gain an understanding of how teamwork operates in the context of fiction filmmaking

 

• To gain an understanding of the importance of organization and time management

Module Content
  • Practical exercises in regard to working in teams and with actors,

     

  • blocking and movement within the frame,

     

  • pacing and composition,

     

  • colour and

     

  • location sound.

     

Methods of Teaching/Learning
  • Demonstrations,

     

  • Practical exercises during and outside class, with feedback from both students and tutor

     

  • 70 additional hours of shooting exercises, location shooting and post production
