Invited speakers working in the media and arts industries will present case studies for students to deepen their understanding of how economics, policy makers, and individual entrepreneurship are involved in the production process from conception to distribution and exhibition.
Topics covered will include: government policy making and the creative industries; ownership: copyright, and trademark laws; commissioning and acquisitions in broadcasting; practical information on how to use festivals and the internet to get ones work known and how to access production support and funding. |

|
Methods of Teaching/Learning |
The module will be delivered through weekly 2 hour lectures and seminars.
Contact hours will be formed of a combination of lecture and discussion-based seminar sessions. Where appropriate, sessions will be supported with video, audio, musical or other visual illustrations. Supplementary texts will be supplied along with directed reading from the booklist to focus discussion. A high degree of informed student participation is expected in seminars based upon independent learning. |
