  • Operate effectively and efficiently in a working environment;
  • Discuss their duties and responsibilities with the workplace supervisor in the target language;

  • Translation constructive feedback into personal and professional development;
  • Maintain a record of achievement;
  • Execute operational decisions ensuring that the organisation’ goals are being met;
  • Handle new situations and interact confidently with people.
Module Content
Twice during the student’s work placement, usually co-ordinated with the tutor’s visit, the workplace supervisor is asked to assess the student’s performance.

After approximately the first half of the placement, the supervisor completes a mid-placement form which accounts for the student’s performance up to date. Assessed are the following:

Quality of work;
  • Student performance in terms of appearance, reliability, timekeeping, and motivation;
  • Acquisition and development of key skills such as time-management, spoken and written communication, organisational skills, and teamwork.
  • Personal growth and development.

At the end of the placement the workplace supervisor completes a second form, assessing the same qualities again to identify areas of student development and improvement. The form is accompanied by a written report, summarising the student's overall performance on placement, and commenting on their progress and achievements as well as their personal and professional development.
