Module Overview
This is a Level 2 module for English for International Communication. It is taught in the target language, over the Spring semester, three contact hours per teaching week. Attendance is compulsory.
Prerequisites/Co-requisites
Successful completion of HE1 or equivalent
Module Aims
To equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to plan and deliver English language lessons in a variety of contexts.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
  • describe, evaluate and apply language teaching/learning theories and methodologies
  • plan effective English language lessons at different levels, with an awareness of context
  • deliver lessons in each of the four skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • apply pedagogic and linguistic knowledge to the production of English language teaching materials
