Module Overview
The module was conceived to answer the SARTOR 3 requirement that each MEng students participates in a multi-disciplinary design activity.

It involves students from Aerospace, Civil, Chemical, Electronic, Mechanical and Medical Engineering working in groups which contain at least 4 disciplines. The projects are conceived by the RAE Visiting Professors who enjoy the active support their sponsoring organisation.

Prerequisites/Co-requisites

The normal progression requirements to level M

Module Aims

To allow students to experience a complex design activity as a member of a multidisciplinary design group.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module, students should:
1.      be aware of the complexity (both technical, managerial and financial) of multidisciplinary design activities.
2.      be able to undertake a complex design and integrate it with design components from other disciplines.
3.      understand the components required to complete the project and how each individual design compent is integrated with the others.
4.      be able to discuss complex specifications and implement a detailed technical design
5.      be able to contribute properly to such projects.
6.      understand the differing information requirements of engineers from different disciplines.

7.   be able to communicate efficiently with different engineering disciplines

Module Content

Working in multidisciplinary groups students will under take a design specified by the RAE Visiting Professors and approved by the Academic Steering Committee which coordinates the module. The scope and content of each design will depend on the project undertaken
