Module Overview
In radio frequency (RF) and microwave engineering there are several aspects of circuit theory otherwise not applicable to other aspects of electronic engineering which this module aims to provide a grounding in.  Furthermore there are some aspects to circuit design that students will become familiar with including filter design, antenna design and basic amplifiers.  Finally some case study examples will be shown in the class.
Prerequisites/Co-requisites
None
Module Aims

·       To give students a background theory in RF and microwave circuit theory, design and analysis.

·       To provide an introduction to fundamental RF devices
To identify clear applications

Learning Outcomes

·       To show competence in understanding circuit parameters of RF devices.

·       To have competence in design of RF devices such as filters.
To ascertain the suitability of RF devices to be fit for purpose, e.g. analysis of noise.
