This module will examine the fundamentals of energy economics including technology
Prerequisites/Co-requisites
Undergraduate degree in economics or suitable alternative
Module Aims
To introduce students to the key areas of energy economics and technology that underpins the energy modules taken on the MSc in Energy Economics and Policy
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students will
Have knowledge of the UK and world energy situation
Have an understanding of the technologies underpinning the energy industry
Have an understanding of the economic fundamentals underpinning most energy types
Be introduced to the important theoretical work that underpin the study of energy economics and natural resources
Appreciate the important energy policy issues

Introduction to the economics of Natural Resources
Introduction to the economics of different energy types (Coal, Oil, Gas, Electricity, etc.)
Introduction to the economics of energy and the environment
Introduction to important energy policy issues
