- to provide an introduction to the study of macroeconomic theory and the theory of macroeconomic policy at an advanced level

- Have gathered sufficient knowledge and technique to enable them to analyse macroeconomic issues in a mature manner
- Understand the approaches of different schools of thought
- Be aware of areas of agreement and those of remaining controversy

Module Content |
The following is an indication of the likely topics to be covered:
- Exogenous growth models: growth models with exogenous saving rates; growth models with consumer optimisation
- Endogenous growth models: research and development, and human capital
- Fluctuations in economic activity; traditional classical and Keynesian theories of fluctuations
- Fiscal policy and Ricardian equivalence
- Inflation, time consistency and monetory policy
