Module Overview |
This module takes the basic understanding of synthesis and sampling you acquired at HE1 and builds on it to enable you to create more complex instruments that allow you to express your music in a unique and individual way. You will be able to design instruments that can be used in a live context or for composition. |

Module Aims |
The aims of this module are to:
• Develop an understanding of the principles of synthesis and sampling • Provide you with the technical skills to create software instruments • Support you in building instruments that can be customised to your creative practice

Learning Outcomes |
At the end of this module, you should be able to:
• Build a virtual synthesiser from first principles. • Create a sampler instrument using either your own or third party samples. • Customise these instruments and integrate them into your compositions. • Use these instruments in a live set, with appropriate real-time controls. Transferable skills: • Adopt a professional approach to your musical activities whether working individually or with others. • Take responsibility for academic work with minimum direction
