Coursework 1: Formative online testing using online resources - 40%
Coursework 2: Summative sequenced Logic project including synthesis using Reaktor - 60%
Module Overview
You will receive theoretical and practical training in the software technologies required for composing with computers. The module covers sequencing, synthesis and sampling, and notation (using Logic, Reaktor and Sibelius software) packages. Online resources are used to deliver computer assessments of techncial topics.

Module Aims
The aims of this module are to:

• Develop technical skills in sequencing, synthesis, sampling and notation.
• Apply these skills creatively in practical situations.
Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module you will be able to:

• Plan and deliver a Logic project with due regard to professional presentation standards.
• Correctly apply sound processing in Logic such as reverb, compression and EQ.
• Make critical judgements to produce successful mixes, including the use of automation.
• Manipulate audio using both destructive and non-destructive techniques.
• Create a synthesiser from first principles using Reaktor.
• Create computer-based notation using Sibelius.
Transferable skills:
• Communicate the subject knowledge acquired during the year and demonstrate an understanding of relevant terminology.
• Use and access a range of learning resources (including IT) and know how to plan work to meet deadlines.
• Apply given tools and methods accurately and carefully to a well-defined problem and begin to appreciate the complexity of issues in the subject.
