Module Overview
Prerequisites/Co-requisites
Module Aims
  • To obtain basic but broad knowledge of the structure and function of the nervous system
  • To develop basic understanding of the biochemical processes in the brain as a basis for normal functioning of the nervous system
Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module you should:-

  • Have a basic concept of the building blocks of the nervous system
  • Have knowledge of cell biology and physiology of nerve cells
  • Be able to account for the basic structures of the nervous system
  • Have increased your knowledge about the special senses
  • Understand some key principles linking the cellular basis of the brain with neurochemistry, brain structure and behaviour
